How Long Will You Live?

Introduction

Today I’d like to talk to you about lifespan. In the news this past week, the CDC released a report that showed the lifespan has decreased for a second year in a row. Harvard also had a similar report two months ago.

The causes of declining lifespan

According to the report, increases in drug use or overdose and the pandemic have played major roles. But we’ve seen extending lifespan has slowed the past few years. And there are other factors that are involved, including lifestyle, decreased nutritional value in foods and toxins.

Healthy Living: Purpose and Community

From the studies on Blue Zones, we’ve learned a few things that can be helpful. One is to have a sense of purpose and community. So the two most important days of your life are the day that you’re born and the day you find out why. And community can give you support in times of stress and allow you to feel good while helping others as well.

Exercise

Exercising for 60 minutes, three to five times a week or 30 minutes a day is important. The exercise not only increases muscle mass and aerobic capacity in terms of the lung and heart, but also increases and strengthens your vagus nerve.

Sleep

Getting adequate sleep seven to eight hours is important because there’s deep delta sleep and this is the portion of sleep that allows you to file new things that you’ve learned into memory and also to remove toxins and for growth hormone to be excreted.

Healthy Diet and Hormones

You want to have a healthy gut which includes a good diet, such as the Mediterranean diet and you want to have regular elimination as well as the healthy hormones including stress hormones, such as cortisol and managing your stress. Also having a diet that is supportive of your thyroid, and balancing sex hormones is important for health.

Extending Lifespan

So what do I do as an anti-aging regenerative medicine specialist to help people with their health and extend lifespan? I help people optimize the gut by removing toxins and food sensitivities, allowing for adequate digestive enzymes and balancing the immune system and microbiome.

Nutraceuticals, Peptides, Hormones

We use nutraceuticals, peptides and hormones to optimize health. And we use a new approach: senolytics that remove inflammatory or “Zombie” type cells that no longer serve much purpose in your body and they spread inflammation, causing the rest of your system to age.
